Jeep burnt in further violence by Khuga dam contractors
Nov 20th, 2008 | By khmonish | Category: Manipur | Email |Lamka, Nov 8 2008 : The Khuga Dam Neglected Contractors Forum yet again took an extreme step today by burning a Gypsy of the IFCD department after hijacking it at Gangpimual area of the town.
The Gypsy bearing number MN1A-5313 was burnt at about 12.30 for what the KNCF claimed was a means of putting pressure on the IFCD for clearance of their pending liabilities.
The forum also stated in a release that the KNCF would hold the IFCD responsible for the actions it was taking and warned of more trouble in future if the government failed to comply with their demands.
Meanwhile, the Zomi Students Federation, ZSF, Tuining block said in a press handout that they are happy with the steps taken by the government’s PWD department to construct the road between Tuining and Lamka and appealed to the public to extend cooperation in the venture.
It also urged the department to make speedy improvements on the road constructions so as to solve the problem caused by bad roads.
Further, while appealing to the contractors to maintain transparency and adhere to the guidelines of quality control, it said the ZSF would extend full support and disclose its committment to do what it could for the rehabilitation of the Mautam famine affected people of the area.
