State govt revises 21 new schemes for NEC Plan

Imphal, June 9, 2009 : The state government has revised 21 priority new schemes proposed for the 11th Plan of North Eastern Council recently.

The proposed new projects include upgradation of 35 km-long Thanlon-Sinzwal road at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 crores as retained by the NEC, upgradation of 47 km-long Tamenglong-Tamei road at an estimated cost of Rs. 40 crores as retained by the NEC and 70 km-long Kangpokpi to Tamei road at an estimated cost of Rs. 75 crores, under the transport and communication sector.

In the meantime, in power sector, as per the revised Detail Project Report (DPR) furnished during January and March this year to the state government by the department, the new revised proposed schemes include, replacement of old conductors and insulators of Yurembam and Mao and Lematak, Jiribam 132 KV transmission line at revised estimated cost of Rs. 27.42 crores, second circuit D/C lines from Yaingangpokpi to Kakching having revised estimated cost of Rs. 36.42 crores, second circuit D/C lines from Kakching to Churachandpur at revised estimated cost of Rs. 11.18 crores, augmentation of three 132/33 KV sub-stations at Yurembam, Ningthoukhong and Kakching at revised estimated cost of Rs. 22 crores and seven solar wind hybrid projects (Rs. 2.18 crores NEC share) and 10 new micro hydro projects at revised estimated cost of Rs. 13.94 crores.

Further, in the health sector upgradation of the existing Nursing School, Lamphelpat, Imphal to a full fledged college of nursing, establishment of Shija College of Nursing for B.Sc nursing programme at revised estimated cost of Rs. 12.43 crores under PPP mode, establishment of Shija Regional Institute of Women and Child Healthcare at an estimated cost of Rs. 11 crores under PPP mode and establishment of blood bank at Shija Hospitals, Langol at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.76 crores under PPP mode.

Other revised priority schemes proposed for the 11th Plan of NEC include upgradation of science centre to popularize science and IT programmes, establishment of common facilities centre and toy making institution cum production centre at Imphal under science and commerce department, support for organizing sports events, skill development and capacity building under youth affairs and sports, expansion of scheme for diversification of agronomical (double cropping) to other districts of Manipur, strengthening and continuous production of breeder seed potatoes in Manipur at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.98 crores and setting up of livestock feed plant of 100 tonnes in Thoubal district at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.5 crores under the agriculture and allied sectors.
