UCIL, ONGC turn to Assam village in uranium search

NEW DELHI, Sept 29, 2009: Even as the move to mine uranium in Meghalaya has faced stiff opposition from NGOs and the public, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has zeroed in on one village in neighbouring upper Assam for the precious metal to provide energy for deficient power plants in the country.

GUWAHATI, Sept 23, 2008 – The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) has discovered altogether 35 oil and gas fields during 2007-08 fiscal. Of them, nine fields have been notified since April 2008. Seven of these fields belong to the NE region, – that is, South and North Assam and Tripura, to be specific.



ONGC signs MoU with Assam PWD

Guwahati, September 11, 2008: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGCL), Assam Asset today signed an MoU with the Assam PWD for investment of an amount of Rs 10.1 crore for improvement and strengthening of the 19-km Nazira-Sivasagar Road and the 14-km Joysagar-Nazira Road.
